Location: The Guildhall, The Main room; enter through side door main entrance
Time: There will be an open workshop for guitarists (of all abilities) from 6pm – 6.30pm; they will then join the rehearsal for the cycle of performances. The 6 String Spektrum will be performed three times from 7pm – each ‘cycle’ lasting around 15 minutes. The score has been written to enable guitarists of all abilities to join in and be part of this musical installation.
Free –however the venue will be marshalled as numbers are limited to 120 (including all performers and crew); the performance is on a cycle and visitors will be advised when they can return to see the next cycel (these are estimated to last 15 minutes).
SoundStorm is the lead partner for the award winning Music Education Hub across BCP Council. In partnership with Light Up Poole, the Hub commissioned virtuoso guitarist Chris Woods of The Chris Woods Groove Orchestra to develop ‘6 String Spektrum’ – a musical response to the festival theme which will be premiered in the glorious setting of The Guildhall on the opening night of the festival (Feb 20th). The event will draw together guitarists of all abilities to perform as a pop-up orchestra, who’ll be joined by aspiring young guitarists recruited from local schools. Chris will be delivering a series of in-school workshops throughout January and February to introduce the ‘Spektrum’.
SoundStorm is also delighted to be partnering with Arts University Bournemouth, and their second year students from the Event Management degree who will lead on the event design and planning for the 20thFebruary.
