“Smashing targets for engagement, footfall and awareness along the way, they achieve engagement in more than 38 countries & are really putting Dorset on the map. This year showcased 4 world premieres of new artwork and was visited by over 40,000 people. Next year’s event is set to be bigger and better still.”
Nick Fernyhough, Partner at Saffrey Champness, Title sponsors, Dorset Tourism Awards 2019.

176 university students and 933 children engaged with 14 different STEM learning opportunities in 2019.

The amazing thing about light art is that it’s immediately accessible and engaging to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. It can instantly demystify the arts (and many aspects of technology), start a discussion, take people in many directions. It’s immersive and impactful – a shared, community experience that creates great talking points and a real buzz leading to deeper engagement with artists’ creative processes and sources of inspiration.

Light Up Poole is made possible by the ambition that drives our artists and the collaboration – at every level of our operation – between numerous organisations and individuals who share a passionate commitment to arts innovation, to arts access for all, and to our shared community here in Poole.

From our first festival in 2018, enjoyed by 20,000+ visitors, LUP then welcomed audiences of 40,000 in 2019. We are recognised on the international map of light festivals meaning we can share our success and experiences way beyond Dorset and take work created here in Poole to festivals around the world too.

Light Up Poole is produced by Audacious, a not-for-profit community interest company, and funded by Arts Council England, BCP Council, Poole BID. Many more partners and sponsors ensure that LUP continues to introduce accessible, innovative light art to Poole and Dorset’s cultural landscape and creates a truly impactful community experience.

We’re always happy to talk to potential partners and investors with an interest in:

  • How our artists advance their work in a fast-moving digital environment
  • LUP’s local schools programme bringing creativity into STEM learning
  • Skills share between artists and those working in innovation in the private sector
  • An interactive installation for Poole residents in 2021 …

… and to businesses interested in:

  • Commissioning light art for your location/s
  • Artists working with your R&D / innovation team to mutual benefit
  • Event and creative learning project sponsorship

Please email development@audacious.org.uk and we’ll arrange for you to experience Light Up Poole this February so we can talk further.

Thank you for your interest.
