SONIC TIDES by Karen Monid
Location: Scaplen’s Court Gardens
Discovering 16th Century Poole through research translated into sound.
Sonic Tides is a multi-channel audio installation in the quiet atmospheric surroundings of the Elizabethan styled walled herb and physics garden at Scaplen’s Court. It is a reinterpretation of 16th century Poole inspired by historic research recently uncovered by our local volunteers. It immerses the listener in a series of sonic landscapes informed by the history of 16th century Poole, breaking through the tides of time and taking the listener back into a picture of the past.
This new commission was made possible through research and support from Poole Museum Historic Centre and U3A Poole.
